Jennifer:
YEAH!  Good morning, Paul!!
Paul:
Thanks guys
Jennifer:
You sound wide eyed awake early in the morning.
Josh:
I know!
Paul:
(laughs)
Jennifer:
How many cups of coffee did you have?
Paul:
I'm still working on ovaltine...trying to cut the coffee out
Jennifer:
(laugh) Alright Paul, you were on Beverly Hills 90210. You played John for a full season.  How was that?
Paul:
That was TERRIFIC. I got to work with some TERRIFIC people. That was back in the days of Shannon Dougherty and the original cast and it was a very exciting place to be.
Jennifer:
So tell me...how was Shannon?  Was she a TRUE bitch or what?
Paul:
(laugh) Wait, how do you spell that? No, she was TERRIFIC. She was really, really...uh...professional and I had a great time with her. I mean there were sparks on the set back then. There was lots of great people.  I mean, sure there are now, but we had a terrific time.  We were all friends.  We all went out and got drunk together, and passed it onto the younger kids now.
Josh:
Now you're good friends with Jason Priestley?
Paul:
That's what I hear.
Josh:
That's what I hear too...you guys met while filming the show?
Paul:
No, we met LONG before that. We moved to Hollywood at the same time and he used to drive a 1970s black Cadillac about the size of a small yacht and it took like 15 minutes to turn a corner.  It was a huge thing.  Eventually it just got towed away because the parking tickets were stacking up.  It was very much the pickup artist type car.
Jennifer:
How did you get into acting?
Paul:
Believe it or not a friend of mine was going on an audition and he brought me with him and as the producers were coming out of the room they offered me the job.  He and I got into a fight outside later, (laugh) but we're still best of friends.  It was just a lot of serendipitous events.
Jennifer:
You were a regular on Santa Barbara as Greg Capwell.  Do you miss daytime at all?
Paul:
No I don't miss daytime at all.  I think it was a...uh...I didn't have a great experience at daytime.  I found it EXTREMELY confining. No, it wasn't a terrific experience if you want the honest truth. (laugh)  Besides, did you see my HAIR???
Jennifer:
I was a little too young
Paul:
You shoulda seen what they did to my head! They put the blow dryer on stun. I had this like 6 inch hairdo...
Jennifer:
You played Sally Field's husband in Soapdish, which is one of my favorite movies. Any aspirations to get back into film at all?
Paul:
Oh yeah, I'm still doing film.  It's just not...uh...for me I'm much more into sort of the creation end of it now.  I'm writing more, I'm directing more...
Josh:
Now Paul I know you do a lot of stuff.  You're into amateur boxing.  You're a scuba diver.  You're a horseman.  And even do some charity work.  How do you find time for all this?
Paul:
I usually try and do it all at once. It really helps. The horses and the scuba gear are really what do it for me.
Josh:
Knockin' out people on horseback with meals hanging on the back... So what's coming up next for you, Paul?  Where are we gonna see you soon?
Paul:
Hope Island, I'm doing a couple of guests on that show, and I'm setting up a directing opportunity for me this fall and I just finished my series Highlander The Raven ... I've got a great website and some great people working for me there at pauljohansson.com
Jennifer:
Hey Paul I *have* to ask...would you do another Diet Coke commercial?
Paul:
I WOULD, only if they'd let me do it naked, though.  I think it's time.  I think audiences are ready for it.
Josh:
The strategically-placed Coke can...
Paul:
That would be TWO Coke cans...
Jennifer:
WHOA!
Paul:
...not just ONE Coke can...
Jennifer:
I'm tryin' to picture this Paul...
Josh:
Alright Jen's gone, she's down for the rest of the show...I want to thank Paul Johansson for joining us...
Paul:
Thank YOU...
